To clarify, I just think and worry within myself, and I don't meddle with their lives, I encourage them and give them advice when they ask for it.

I guess you are right, parents are always parents.

Big Nose 1977,

It happens to most of the parents, expecially to us (Chinese parents). We are simply meddling in our kids life, trying to shape it according to our concept of perfection.
A while ago I had the same thought as you did. I had worried like the hell about my kid's educatiuon and future until the day my son got a job offer right after his graduation from grad school.
We parents are being overly sensitive.

I believe our generation is somehwat lucky; most of the Pui Shing old boys I have managed to meet up with seem to be doing okay; some are even doing more than okay.

I try to look into the future and somehow I get a chill down my spine. I am inclined to believe that the next generation (our kids) will face a tougher life than us. Life would be harder for them than for us; competition will be more fierce; opportunities are more scarce...

I wonder if I am just over-worrying. I wonder if the last generation looked up on us and fear the same back then.

Parents, are you worried?
