The money he reportedly earns to sign with the LA Galaxy is not a small potato. According to preliminary report the deal is worth 200 million US dollars for a 5 year contract which is easily one of the most expensive contract any athelete ever signs.

beckham的足球生涯已步入晚期,好像當年比利,告魯夫,等等,晚年都轉到美國踢波,beckham佢國家隊唔要佢,皇馬又做後備,反英超又太貴,所以要輪落到d2線足球聯賽踢波,世界真係現實.....

It may also help that there isn't a NFL team in L.A. area. However, how many people in USA really care or know who Beckham was? Don't forget he no longer plays "football" in US, he play "soccer" which is a minor sports.
